Just don't try to fool people, because they own't be fooled.Yes, it’s the first weekend of 2020! We’ve rounded up some fun and family-friendly things to do in and around the area. Maybe turn this into an actual modded map for Celeste if you want. I'm sorry for being harsh, but I am pretty angry because you are trying to pass off what you obviously copied from celeste as your own work. All I can hope is that you aren't charging money for a piece of garbage. Otherwise people won't play it, and those who do will feel scammed. My suggestion for trying to make your game more unique? Scrap it, or rebuild it from scratch.

Level design wise, as far as I can tell, this looks like a four-year-old slapping together tiles in Ahorn, because there is so little attention to detail (huge rectangular corners, for example) compared to the original. You couldn't even steal more than one main tileset to at least keep your "game" interesting, nor could you add new mechanics that added to the gameplay. Your pea brain couldn't handle coming up with a single original idea for a story. Hell, even the freaking STORY is copied from Celeste. Down to the exact positioning of the hair and eyes on the sprite, you pulled the graphics directly from Celeste. That could be true, you just downloaded the game and extracted literally every file you can find, copied them over, and built your "game". You say that you haven't played Celeste before. I have seen literal modded maps in Celeste with more creativity, ingenuity, story, and effort put in than this load of garbage you are trying to pass off as original. Hell, even the cloud background looks like it came from Celeste. I'm willing to bet that the background rocks are stolen right from Celeste and recolored to a sickening green all over the map.

The screenshake effect is the exact same as Celeste, down to exactly how much the screen moves when you dash. The character is a literal recolor of Madeline, and even with that, you still couldn't make it look good. The layering mechanic is not even remotely close to original, because the beat blocks in celeste work the exact same way. Others have pointed out that the all the tilesets are recolors of tilesets found in Celeste, and even the freaking hair mechanics are copied directly from Celeste. Apparently you didn't have the budget for animators, because the spring of your character's jump, and the little particles that are created when you land, are also a carbon copy. Very obviously, the climb/dash/jump mechanics are the exact same. The dust bunnies are an exact copy of those from chapter 3, except you scaled them down a bit. The dimensions of the grid in each room is the same. You didn't even try to make this look different.
#STEAM JOYSPRING HOW TO#
In general gamedev too, I think you should always play games that are close to yours to know how to innovate, what has already been made, and how to prevent looking like a copy. If you are not lying though (wich I highly doubt), then I strongly advise you to play Celeste or at least watch closely videos of it to realise how stupidly close most of your Joyspring's elements are to Celeste's, I'm talking "Celeste's creator could sue you" levels of look-alike.

I would tell you that one of you team members might have ripped of elements without telling you, but with the sheer amount of stolen content and your other post saying it's inspired by Celeste, it's hard to think you aren't lying when saying you didn't play Celeste. Even other non art-effects look way too close to be coincidental (Madeline's wobble, her light, her fucking animations, how the blobs move, the falling platforms, etc.) And the more you look at it, the more it looks like the assets are directly stolen (ground texture, blob, the fucking Madeline sprite). I hadn't noticed until other redditors pointed it out, but they are right, sprites are just straigth up ripped from Celeste and color swapped.
